Sail through the magnificent Norwegian fjords aboard your 48ft catamaran, captained by the charismatic and knowledgeable Håkon, who has been sailing the waters of the Lyngen Alps since he was a boy. By day, you will summit breathtakingly scenic mountains and ski back down to the glistening sea below on northern Norway’s perfect spring snow. Whilst you ski, your captain will fish for fresh haddock and other seafood, whipping up freshly prepared dinners each night to help recharge after an epic day of ski touring. As you sail to your new mooring each day, keep an eye out for the friendly locals – in the form of orcas, humpbacks, grey seals and eagles!

Hosted Trips:

Sail & Ski Touring: 14th – 21st April, 2023 – NEW RELEASE (2 spots available)
Sail & Ski Touring: 8th – 15th April, 2023 – SOLD OUT

Price: NOK 50,000 per person (based on 2 people sharing a cabin)

Staying on a 48ft "floating hotel", you will tour around the most spectacular peaks in Norway's Lyngen Alps with your captain and guide. Spend up to 6 days ski touring some of the most scenic backcountry terrain on the planet. Expect calm waters, freshly-caught seafood, spectacular wildlife encounters and a whole lot of fun with your fellow skiers.

Flying into Tromsø you will spend a night at a local hotel, before taking a short transfer to your catamaran the following day. You will then embark on your voyage into the Lyngen Alps, where you will spend the next 5 nights. Your final night will be spent back at the hotel in Tromsø to maximise your time onboard and on the mountain.

You should have a good level of fitness and at least 5 days of backcountry experience for the intermediate trip and a good level of ski experience for the introductory week. Expect to spend 5-7 hours per day going uphill (gentle inclines) and skiing back down. The terrain will be chosen according to the group's ability and preferences – there is something for everyone, from open mellow bowls to steep, challenging couloirs. This hosted sail and ski trip is exclusive for just 6 guests.

Our hosted ski trips take place in April. If the dates don't suit or you would like to organise a private trip, please get in touch and we'll be happy to assist.

Life on the Boat

Your fully equipped, sea-going 48-foot catamaran is equipped with 3 double occupancy guest cabins, 4 toilets with showers, heating system, storage area and a kitchen for your captain to cook up a storm each day. The lounge is the real gem on this vessel, with ample seating, space and 360 degree views of your surroundings. You can also access the outside area to relax when the weather is good. Your captain and chef, Håkon is an expert sailor and fully certified captain, having worked his entire live at sea (previously as a fisherman in the Barents Sea). He has a wealth of knowledge on the local area, and has a lot of stories to tell!

Ski Terrain

With 5 full days of skiing, you will have the opportunity to ski four of the best backcountry regions in the country; Ringvassoy, Nordlenangen, Lynge and Uloya. Weaving in and out of the islands and fjords, there is no shortage of incredible views of both mountains and sea. The small group of 6 will be led by a professional and local guide, who knows the area better than anyone. The skiing itself will be catered to the ability and objectives of the group – from advanced intermediate through to expert. From open bowls and gentle meadows to steep chutes and couloirs, there’s a little something for everyone. This time of year usually provides great and reliable weather, perfect for spring skiing and uphill travel.

Mabey Ski has an exceptional eye for detail and no request was considered too difficult. There were so many personal touches.

Hawkins Family, UK

We loved Mabey Ski’s approach, it was much more personable and flexible than bigger agents we have used, as they really focus on the small details as much as the big ones.

Bryant Family, UK

The attention to detail was second to none. The whole experience was enchanting and fulfilled our desire for adventure – thank you Mabey Ski!

Holly, UK

Their team goes above and beyond; they think of every detail. I cannot recommend their experiences enough.

Armacell Executive Management Team, Global

Mabey Ski created a fantastic trip with activities that we wouldn’t have considered. The trip combined the perfect mix of incentive, team building and business – with enough free time for everyone to relax. It was very well organised and executed.
