Family-Friendly Ski Holidays

With one of the best kids’ snow schools in North America, and dedicated family zones with secret trails, enchanted forests, and hidden tree forts to explore, it’s no wonder Whistler Blackcomb is one of the world’s best family ski resorts. There is an endless amount of family-friendly activities, both on and off the mountain, spacious accommodation to suit all budgets, and all the streets in both villages are pedestrianised.

Our team at Mabey Ski is made up of local Whistler experts who call the world famous resort home. We love to share our local knowledge with families coming into town, and can take care of all of the small things as well as the big things, so you can sit back and enjoy quality time with your family.

Looking for a ski-in, ski-out hotel with a pool for the kids to enjoy? A restaurant serving food options the whole family will love? Maybe you want to take a day off the slopes to try a new, exciting activity. Whatever you’re after, we can tailor the perfect magical winter getaway for your family.

Bespoke ski vacations for families looking to get the most out of their Whistler experience. With our local concierge team, we can take care of everything from accommodation, lift passes, and equipment rentals to private lessons, dog sledding, snow mobiling and many other exciting winter adventures.

Mabey Ski’s hometown, Whistler B.C. is just two hours north from Vancouver International Airport (YVR). Home to one of North America's largest ski resorts, Whistler has endless winter activities for families to enjoy.

All of our ski trips are created specifically for each family. Whether this is your first time in Whistler, or your annual ski trip, we will make sure you experience the mountains like never before.

We offer ski trips to Whistler from late November through to May each year. Each month offers a different Whistler experience. Check out the blog below to see which month suits your family best.

Getting to Whistler

From Vancouver International Airport (YVR), we can arrange a private transfer for your family to ensure a smooth journey up to Whistler. The drive will take you through stunning Vancouver skyscrapers and over the famous Lionsgate bridge, before weaving your way up the gorgeous Sea to Sky corridor – where every turn offers another incredible view. Your driver will take you directly to your hotel or chalet, where you will be welcomed by your property manager to make sure you settle in comfortably.

Whistler Blackcomb for Families

From cruisy green runs to heart-pumping black diamonds, Whistler Blackcomb has something for every member of the family. There are even dedicated family zones with secret trails, enchanted forests, and hidden tree forts to explore.

Whistler Blackcomb also has one of the best kids’ snow schools in North America, so whether your children are new to the snow or seasoned little rippers, they’ll be sure to improve their technique whilst having a lot of fun on the slopes with their local instructor. The instructors that we work with create fun educational days on the slopes for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.

If you and your family are looking for a more advanced day on the slopes, Mabey Ski has the right contacts – from improving your steeps technique, to find hidden powder stashes and exploring further afield away from the crowds. Some of the best parts of Whistler Blackcomb aren’t marked on the map, so if you’re keen to make the most of your lift pass it’s worth heading out with a guide. You also get to skip the lines, which can be a game-changer during the school holidays.

As with all of our ski adventures, we can take care of your lift passes, equipment rentals, family activities and book you into the best ski-in, ski-out accommodation, so your time on the mountain can be fully focused on making memories with your family.

Family-Friendly Activities in Whistler

Are your legs needing a rest from all those turns? We’ve got you covered. Whistler is home to a never-ending list of non-ski activities. From tubing, ice skating, light shows, and snow playgrounds to more adventurous activities such as dog sledding, snow mobiling and zip lining.

You can explore Whistler’s wild backcountry on a family snowmobiling adventure you’ll never forget. As you make your way through towering pines and jaw dropping views, a remote backcountry cabin awaits with a traditional Canadian skillet breakfast. If you’re looking for a slightly slower paced activity, why not try a snowshoe tour ending with a campfire cookout – the kids will love roasting the s’mores over the campfire.

Early risers can enjoy a peaceful morning ice fishing on a frozen lake whilst watching the sunrise behind the mountains. Warm up in a large tent-like ice fishing shelter with hot flask and heater whilst you wait for rainbow trout to bite. This is a great experience for those new to ice fishing, and if it’s a nice day you can move around the lake and take in all the beautiful scenery that Whistler has to offer.

In Whistler Village there are countless activities to take part in. You can ice skate outdoors right next to the world famous Olympic Rings or enjoy awe-inspiring light shows like ‘Fire and Ice’ or ‘Vallea Lumina.’ Check out the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre in the Upper Village to explore the history of the local Indiginous communities.

Pre-arrange activities with our team, or drop us a message when you arrive and we can help oragnise any of these last minute (availability permitting). There are plenty of family-friendly restaurants too, though it’s recommended to book two months in advance to guarantee availability.
